“The Wexford Carol” is an Irish carol that is thought to date to the 12th century. It achieved wide popularity in the 20th century due to its inclusion in The Oxford Book of Carols.
Like many folk and traditional songs, it was transcribed from the performance of a local singer — in this case, by William Grattan Flood (1857-1928), an Irish musicologist, composer, and organist who collected it from a singer in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland.
This arrangement for solo trombone with piano accompaniment features an impelling rhythmic foundation, rich harmonies, and a lovely countermelodic line for flute.
Piano score, flute, bass clef and Bb treble clef solo parts — $5.99
